Halloween Howler 30th October 2003
WOW! What a night!
Hundreds of tiny witches, wizards, skeletons, hulks, devils
and ghosts descended on Clayton Vale last week for a Spooky
walk to visit the ‘Friendly’ witch and listen
to her tell the story of bad people trying to spoil the Vale
and frighten children. They all became honorary ‘Friends’
and promised to help look after the Vale before returning
to the disco.

Once again we were amazed by how many local families came
along, it was wonderful to see you all. Thank you to all the
children for dressing up, hope you enjoyed yourselves and
a big thank you to all the parents for making such fantastic
costumes.
Many thanks to the Manchester Youth Volunteers who, with
the Community Artist, provided our Spooky happenings along
the walk, the Games Volunteers, who as always were there helping
and supporting us, Manchester Leisure Staff, the Medlock Valley
Officer and Groundwork Manchester who funded the event through
their Make a Difference in East Manchester grant scheme.
The BIGGEST THANKYOU is to a very special Friendly witch,
who wrote and told the story.

It was a magical night and proved to us, once again, that
we are right in helping to preserve Clayton Vale so that future
generations will be able to enjoy it’s beauty and magic.
