2003 Summer Fun Day
The Friends held their second family event
on Saturday 26th July 2003.

Once again the weather smiled on us. After
a very wet Friday we were fearing the worst but Saturday dawned
bright and sunny and remained that way until 4.20pm just as
everything was packed away.
There was a Solve the riddles walk through the vale
with badges and sweets for all who took part.
Once again the Event Volunteers were there to help and
Air Cadets put on an impressive display of rifle drills.
This time two bouncy castles saved the little ones from
being bounced by the older children. The Heaton Park donkeys
paid us another visit to give rides.
Lots of 10p a go games were played, with sweets as prizes
and the Tuck shop provided 10p sweets, drinks and biscuits
and a glimpse of real live bats brought along by Mary,
the Bat lady. Peter McGowan, Stepping Out Health Walks
Co-Coordinator was there with display boards and we were
all amazed by the two tortoises (one aged 75 years old)
he brought along for us to take a close look at. |

We would like to express our appreciation
to volunteers who helped on the day and all families that
attended.
We hope you had a good time.
Don’t forget to join us at our next
event, a Halloween Howler, to take place on Thursday the 30th
October. We will be taking a Spooky walk through the Vale
followed by a children’s Disco with refreshments.
